On Labor Day 2015, Mama Gracie’s Pregnancy Shop was birthed. We wanted to find the most innovative baby products on the market and be their brick & mortar, if needed.
In our product research we found The Baby Box Company and blogged the arrival of our shipment. A company started by two mamas who had heard about the 75 year old Finnish Tradition of a box that serves as a bassinet filled with all the items that an expectant family needed. They ventured to go through all the required certifications to bring the Finnish tradition to the United States. This wasn’t just about a new type of bassinet, it was an opportunity to lower the infant mortality rate in the United States, whose infant mortality rates are among the highest in the world. Mama Gracie’s Pregnancy Shop was seen around town with our Baby Boxes at all events and they were our token ‘silent auction’ gift for all the local fundraisers. We’ve been so proud to have this safe sleep option for our customers.
We had a local mama blog about her experience with the Baby Box and titled it appropriately “I put my baby in a what?!”
Flash forward to February 2017 when Mama Gracie’s were given the opportunity to be a distribution site for the Free Universal Baby Box through a partnership with Babies Need Boxes and The Baby Box Co.. An opportunity for all expectant families to get a certificate on Baby Box University and pick up their Baby Box at our shop. We had our launch part on Friday March 17, 2017 and are having fun giving out the Baby Boxes and providing a safe sleep option for local babies.
