I believe breasts are magical! Not just because they’re incredibly beautiful, but because they are incredible and miraculous! These four facts ensure you never doubt the power of your breasts again.
1. To produce breast milk, we literally dissolve parts of ourselves
We melt our own body fat starting with gluteal-femoral fat (aka our butts) and turn it into liquid to feed our babies.
2. Your baby tells your breast what kind of milk it prefers, and your breast listens!
The nutritional and immunological components of breast milk change every day, according to the specific, individual needs of your baby. Your baby might lack the words to tell you what she needs, but breastfeeding makes it possible for you to receive her messages. During breastfeeding, her saliva “back washes” into your breast, providing your body with all the information it needs to make the best milk for your baby.
3. Our breasts turn water into milk.
And not just any milk- SUPER MILK. Mature milk has 3 to 5 percent fat (depending on whether the baby is a boy or a girl- that’s right, your breasts can tell your baby’s gender!). The milk holds an impressive list of minerals and vitamins: sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, and vitamins A, C, and E. Long chain fatty acids like DHA (an omega-3) and AA (an omega-6) are also present in breast milk, which is critical to maintain and develop the brain and nervous-system.
4. They’re beautiful in all their different shapes, sizes, and styles.
Your breasts have this incredible ability to help sustain and nurture life, with the purest most unaltered substance, and how they look has no effect on this astonishing ability. So, whether they’re “uneven” or perky or saggy or big or small, they’re all miracle workers. And that’s the most beautiful thing they can be. And this should be celebrated.
