Water Drop Vegetarian Cafe Christchurch in New Zealand is a place where mums can breastfeed their little one.
The Café Management said there is a lactation room upstairs designated for breastfeeding and breast pumping.
However there has been unpleasant incidents for breastfeeding mums here. In June 2017, mum Gabriella Bond breastfeeding her baby Penelope was allegedly asked by the cafe waitress to stop breastfeeding there and go to the toilet upstairs because it was embarassing to see. She left and reported the incident.
The Water Drop Cafe is attached to a temple, so mums might encounter some onlookers who might give disapproving stares, but nevertheless you are legally allowed by breastfeeding law of New Zealand to openly breastfeed here if you want.
New Zealand Breastfeeding Law:
The Human Rights Commission says on its website that if you are treated unfairly while breastfeeding it is a form of sex discrimination, and that under the Human Rights Act it is illegal to stop someone breastfeeding in public.
