Rogers Arena |
Rogers Arena (Vancouver Canucks stadium) has an area for nursing mothers, but unfortunately it's located in the women's washroom.
LOCATION:
The baby care area in this women’s washroom is located at Section 317. We suggest you contact the arena info at 604-899-7400 to find another area if you're not comfortable going in the washroom for your baby feeding or expressing needs.
We haven't gotten or seen any updates on whether they provide an updated baby care room or something more portable like a Mamava Baby Care suite. We often see many of the venues for traveling moms listed right here on Moms Pump Here with a mamava as an option.
Note: British Columbia also protects nursing mothers right to openly breastfeed whenever and wherever they are in public or private places. So if you choose to do so you can.
While you plan your visit, here are some fun facts for travel moms visiting Rogers Arena.
Visiting Rogers Arena, a key landmark in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, can be an exhilarating experience for moms traveling with kids. This iconic stadium, home to the Vancouver Canucks and a premier concert venue, offers something for every family. Whether you're attending a hockey game, a major concert, or simply touring the venue, there's a lot to learn and appreciate about Rogers Arena. Here are some fun facts and helpful tips to enhance your visit as a traveling mom.
1. History of Rogers Arena
Formerly known as General Motors Place (or GM Place), Rogers Arena officially opened its doors in 1995. Its primary purpose was to serve as the home for the Vancouver Canucks, replacing the historic Pacific Coliseum. Renaming the arena to Rogers Arena in 2010 marked the beginning of a new era, right in time for its participation as a key venue for the 2010 Winter Olympics. During the Games, the arena hosted ice hockey competitions, with fans from around the world cheering in this massive, state-of-the-art facility.
As a travel mom, it's fun to share a bit of this history with your kids while visiting, especially if they’re sports fans. You could make a game of spotting Vancouver Canucks memorabilia and Olympic-themed decorations inside the arena.
2. Rogers Arena and the Vancouver Canucks
If you're visiting Vancouver for a Canucks game, it’s worth knowing that the team has had a long and storied history in the National Hockey League (NHL). Founded in 1970, the Canucks have won multiple division championships, and the energy in Rogers Arena during a game is simply electric.
For moms traveling with kids who may be new to hockey, make sure to arrive early to catch the warm-ups and grab some official Canucks merchandise from the team store. Hockey can be a fast-paced sport, so consider bringing along a mini guide to the rules of the game to help your children follow along and feel engaged.
3. State-of-the-Art Facilities
One of the best parts of visiting Rogers Arena is its modern, family-friendly facilities. From clean restrooms to comfortable seating and well-placed concession stands, the arena ensures that families have everything they need to enjoy the experience.
Moms will appreciate the baby-changing stations in the washrooms and the wide array of food options available for picky eaters. There’s a little something for everyone, including classic hot dogs and nachos to healthier fare like salads and wraps.
A helpful tip for moms: check out the Rogers Arena app before your visit. It offers useful features like digital tickets, venue maps, and pre-ordering options for food and drinks, making it easier to manage your time and keep the kids entertained.
4. Concerts and Special Events
Rogers Arena is not just for sports fans! The arena regularly hosts world-class concerts featuring some of the biggest names in music. From Justin Bieber to Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé to Ed Sheeran, this venue is a popular stop for major tours.
For moms traveling with teens or tweens, attending a concert at Rogers Arena could be the highlight of their trip to Vancouver. It’s always wise to check the event calendar ahead of time to see if there’s a concert or show you can plan around. Keep in mind that concerts here are designed with world-class acoustics and visuals, ensuring that every seat in the house offers a great view.
5. Sustainability Efforts
Did you know that Rogers Arena is committed to reducing its environmental impact? As part of their sustainability initiatives, the venue works to minimize waste, reduce energy consumption, and encourage recycling. Rogers Arena’s Green Team ensures that eco-friendly practices are implemented during events, including using compostable food packaging and providing water stations to reduce the need for plastic bottles.
If you’re an eco-conscious mom, these sustainability efforts can make your visit feel even better, knowing that the venue is working toward a greener future. Encourage your kids to look for the recycling stations around the arena, and talk to them about how large venues like this can reduce their carbon footprint.
6. Prime Location in Downtown Vancouver
One thing we love about British Columbia is downtown Vancouver, and Rogers Arena is right in the heart of the city. The arena is within walking distance of a good amount of family-friendly attractions, including the Vancouver Aquarium, Science World, and Stanley Park.
Travel moms can take advantage of this by planning a full day of exploration. Start with a walk through the vibrant Yaletown district, then head over to Rogers Arena for an exciting game or concert. Public transportation options like the SkyTrain and buses make it easy to get around, and parking garages nearby offer convenient access if you’re driving.
7. Photo Opportunities
Don't forget your camera! Rogers Arena offers plenty of fun photo opportunities for moms and kids. Whether it's posing with the statue of beloved Canucks players outside the entrance or capturing candid shots of the excitement inside the arena, there are plenty of memories to document. There’s even a spot where kids can get their picture taken with Canucks’ mascot, Fin, during hockey games.
So there you have it. These are just seven we could think of. We're sure there's more, but next time you travel to Rogers for a cool hockey game or event, look around and see what we missed to mention.
