10 Things for Families Flying Through Boston Logan International Airport
Boston Logan International Airport, often simply referred to as Logan Airport, is one of the busiest airports in the United States. For families traveling through, it can be a hectic experience. However, with a bit of planning and knowledge of what the airport has to offer, families can make their time at Logan both enjoyable and stress-free. Here are ten things for families to do while flying through Boston Logan International Airport.
1. Explore Kidport Play Areas
Logan Airport is well-equipped with Kidport play areas designed specifically for young travelers. These play zones can be found in Terminal A, Terminal B, and Terminal C. Each Kidport features climbing structures, slides, and interactive elements that are perfect for letting kids burn off some energy before a flight. The play areas are thoughtfully designed to mimic Boston landmarks, adding an educational twist to the fun.
2. Visit the Logan Airport Art Exhibits
Art lovers will appreciate the rotating exhibits displayed throughout the airport. Logan Airport partners with local museums and art institutions to showcase pieces that reflect Boston’s rich cultural heritage. These exhibits are located in the walkways between terminals and other public areas. They provide a great opportunity for families to enjoy some culture and education while waiting for their flight.
3. Enjoy a Meal at Family-Friendly Restaurants
Boston Logan offers a variety of dining options suitable for families. Legal Sea Foods, located in Terminal B, is a Boston staple offering fresh seafood and a kids’ menu. For a quick bite, Wahlburgers in Terminal C provides delicious burgers and fries in a casual setting. If your family prefers Italian, check out Berkshire Farms Market in Terminal A, which offers pizza and other Italian favorites.
4. Relax in the Family Rooms
Traveling with infants and toddlers can be challenging, but we've listed here how Logan Airport makes it easier, for example with its dedicated family rooms. These rooms, located in each terminal, provide a quiet space for nursing mothers, diaper changing, and feeding young children. Equipped with comfortable seating and changing tables, these rooms are a lifesaver for parents needing a moment to care for their little ones as they travel to their destinations.
5. Take a Walk Through the Logan Airfields Observation Area
The Logan Airfields Observation Area, located in Terminal B, offers a fantastic view of the runways. Kids and adults alike will enjoy watching planes take off and land. The area is equipped with binoculars and informational displays that provide insight into the operations of the airport. It's an engaging and educational way to pass the time, especially for young aviation enthusiasts.
6. Participate in the Airport’s Frequent Flyer Programs
Logan Airport offers various frequent flyer programs that provide benefits and amenities for families traveling frequently. Programs like JetBlue’s TrueBlue offer points and rewards that can be used for family travel. Signing up for these programs can provide access to faster check-ins, priority boarding, and access to lounges, making the overall travel experience smoother and more enjoyable for families.
7. Shop for Souvenirs and Travel Essentials
New England has a lot to offer tourists and visitors such as the annual Big E Fair (formally known as The Eastern States Exposition), but right here in Logan Airport are a wide range of shops where families can purchase souvenirs, books, snacks, and travel essentials. The New England Collections stores, located in multiple terminals, offer local products and Boston-themed gifts that make great keepsakes. Hudson News and Tech on the Go are also convenient spots for grabbing last-minute travel necessities and entertainment options for the flight.
8. Utilize the Airport’s Wi-Fi and Charging Stations
Keeping kids entertained during a long wait can be challenging, but Logan Airport’s free Wi-Fi and numerous charging stations make it easier. Parents can download movies, games, and educational apps before their trip, ensuring their devices are ready to keep kids occupied. Charging stations are conveniently located throughout the terminals, so you can recharge your devices as needed.
9. Visit the Delta Sky Club Lounge
If your family is flying with Delta Airlines or has access to the Delta Sky Club Lounge, take advantage of the amenities it offers. The lounge, located in Terminal A, provides a quiet, comfortable space to relax, with complimentary snacks and beverages. For families, the lounge offers kid-friendly entertainment options such as TVs, books, and sometimes even designated children’s play areas.
10. Take a Walk on the Harborwalk
Now we don't suggest you leave the airport to go for a stroll around the city unless you're arriving and have a lot of time on your hands to see places drive by destinations like Fenway Park. Likewise if you're departing and have a lot of time before your flight, Logan Airport is uniquely situated near Boston Harbor, and the Harborwalk offers a scenic, relaxing stroll with views of the water and the city skyline. The walkway is accessible from the airport’s Terminal A and provides a great way to stretch your legs and get some fresh air before or after your flight. It's a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the airport, and kids can enjoy watching the boats and planes.
