Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) currently has lactation rooms, but they are available on the first floor restrooms and the concourse A restrooms. Nursing mother's rooms are required by federal law to be outside of a public restroom, so this setup will likely change by the 2023 deadline of the Friendly Airports for Mothers (FAM) Improvement Act.
Moms can use this area to breastfeed or request another quiet space away from a toilet area.
LOCATION: Located in first floor restrooms and the concourse A restrooms
NOTE: State of Louisiana breastfeeding law allow nursing mothers to breastfeed openly in public places.
NOTE: Friendly Airports for Mothers (FAM) Improvement Act requires Large, Medium, and Small hub airports to maintain a lactation area for nursing mothers and a baby changing table in at least one men’s and one women’s restroom in each passenger terminal building. Large/Medium hub airports must comply by FY2021. Small hub airports must comply by FY2023.
