So, this has me feeling a whole bunch of emotions. As a woman, mom and entrepreneur in the tech industry gender discrimination is a constant. On August 7th CNN published an article about a Google engineer who wrote a 10 page memo about how women are "biologically" unfit to work in the tech industry. Reportedly the author of the memo cannot be identified but he is a software engineer.

Do you remember the last time you were on an airplane and the flight attendant was running through the safety instructions for the aircraft? Maybe you had your headphones in and were listening to music instead, maybe you were traveling with your family and making sure that everyone had everything they needed, or maybe you were busy responding to emails. In case you missed it, they give you a heads up that some oxygen masks will come down from the ceiling should you need them and, here's the important part, you should always put your mask on before you assist those around you.

When I moved to Miami my daughter was about 15 months old and my olest 3. We didn't know anyone and had to quickly find solutions for daycare. We were still getting to know neighbors and couldn't trust anyone with our treasure. One day for some reason (mommy brain...don't remember) I had to bring my daughter into work with me. I was working at a university and had my own office. So I figured I could close the door and I wouldn't bother my co-workers. What I couldn't predict is how my boss would respond. He had always been great about me working from home when I needed to but bringing a toddler to work?
