I’ve almost always kept my breast milk with me when I traveled, whether the travel was for work or for pleasure. Some of my friends asked me why I didn’t ship it and I answered that I didn’t carry so much milk with me that I needed to ship it separately. A few friends in my industry would ship their milk back to their spouse or caregivers when they were on long trips because their babies preferred fresh milk over frozen milk. Some of these friends told me they had submitted the cost of the dry ice shipment as a T&E disbursement because it would be considered a “business expense”.

A study published in the August issue of Obstetrics & Gynecology shows another positive side to breastfeeding: healthier-looking arteries later in life.

Last week on Moms Pump Here, we talked about the five reactions many women receive when asking for a place to pump milk when they’re away from their babies. Last month, Assistant Public Defender Marissa Glatzer was representing a client in a DUI trial in Miami and she received response #2:

As a mom who has used my pump in lots of great and not-so-great places and also nursed in mostly great places - I have encountered many different reactions to the question, "Do you have a place where I can use my breast pump?".  Here are five - notice I'm not saying "Top 5" or "Worst 5" - there's a good mix in this list!

I must be crazy. If you had told me during any of the 5+ years I have spent pumping or pregnant - that I would ever say I miss using my breast pump, I would say that's a crazy idea. Now, though, as we get ready for summer vacation with all three of my boys home from school - I can say I actually miss pumping.
