Traveling moms don’t have it easy. There’s a lot of coordination that goes into plane traveling with young children or a newborn. You have to think about how you’re going to maneuver the airports (listed in our airport nursing rooms locator) and get your children from point A to point B seamlessly. In a perfect world it would be seamless but moms often have to deal with luggage, strollers, car seats for the plane, entertaining children or keeping a newborn calm during a flight, stares and comments from less than understanding passengers and then the whole fiasco de-boarding. But what if you are a nursing mom? Traveling with kids or not if a mom is nursing she will also need to coordinate time to breastfeed or breast pump.

Who cares if you've discovered an endangered species or nearly died while traveling in the African Congo to bring awareness to the elusive silver back gorillas or performed in front of thousands in the NFL....you're beautiful breastfeeding picture on Facebook was shamed by a follower and reported as nudity!

So what does it mean to travel abroad with your baby and family while you are still a nursing mother? If you are not use to traveling internationally or traveling for long lengths with your baby what can you expect from the airports listed in our airport nursing rooms locator) you are traveling into? First, for any nursing mother traveling abroad it's important to do your research. Not only about the laws about nursing mothers in the country you are flying into to, all the supplies you will need but the airports you will be using to potentially nurse, change or breast pump for your baby.

Public breastfeeding is already protected by Texas law, BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!.....

My last and third child turns 7 this month. I still have my pregnancy pouch, stretch marks and a belly. I was not blessed with my mom’s stretch mark free genes as she likes to point out. I have never dwelled on them or cried over it. They have always been there since my first child.  But I am what you would refer to as a thick woman. I grew up chubby and I still I am. I have struggled with my own self-image since it was first pointed out to me. I was in second grade when we had to get in line to be weighed and after weighing in at 100 pounds, the kids around me laughed. Growing up I did sports, everything from basketball, track and even power lifting (I was never fast or agile but I had strength so guess which sport I was good at?). So I was losing inches by this point and gaining muscle.
